Position Name: Clinical Account Manager


Reports to: Director of Clinical Operations


Position Summary and Scope of Responsibilities

The Clinical Account Manager will ensure that client intent is captured appropriately and will play a key role in supporting the implementation and operation of client-specific clinical programs. This pharmacist will support the provision and documentation of accurate and timely drug information requests to staff, clients, and members.


Principal Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage incoming requests for information from staff, clients, and members regarding drug therapy,
  • formulary and clinical program related issues and partner with reporting and analytics team to present meaningful information
  • Serve as a clinical support person for clients, business partners, and the Account Management team
  • Assist in resolving concerns of clients and business partners
  • Assist in developing and operating clinical programs designed to improve client and member health
  • Provide medication therapy management services to members
  • Provide clinical consulting services through analyzing drug utilization patterns and trends
  • Leverage presentation skills by delivering reporting as needed, in partnership with the Account Manager, to clients on the clinical aspects of their benefit plan
  • Educate clients on clinical programs and solutions to increase rate of implementation and adoption of such programs
  • Plans, organizes, and directs responsibilities delegated by the Director or Executive Officer.


Education: PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree


Experience/Knowledge:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience using MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, with experience creating and updating Excel spreadsheets
  • Pharmacy residency, board certification, and/or significant experience working as a clinical pharmacist
  • Previous PBM experience including knowledge of P&T strategies and Prior Authorization Guidelines
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervisory oversight
  • Ability to prioritize and have good organizational skills
  • Capable of interfacing with clients and owners to provide solutions to problems
  • Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office products
  • Need to be flexible and work as a team player
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail
  • Need to be adaptable and have different responsibility given periodically
  • Travel as required


Licenses and Certification Requirements: Active pharmacist license


Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands and fingers and type for up to eight hours in a workday. Employees are required to stand and/or walk for short periods of time and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
